The SISKIN Quartet

  • Saturday 23:30, Idun

The SISKIN Quartet is a meeting between two praised duets; Bridget Marsden & Leif Ottosson from England and Sweden togheter with Sarah-Jane Summers & Juhani Silvola from Scotland and Finland. Their rich traditions meet i a concert which is surrounded by the theme migrating birds.

These duos have strived for maximal variation in their soundstage, using as few instrument as possible, and brings this exploring to the SISKIN Quartet. The programme is a mix of quartet and duo, where meditative sounds will meet groovy and lofty tunes, improvisation and new compositions. Traditional scottish style meets scandinavian.

The siskin is a small, finely singing migrating bird which lives in both Great Britain and Scandinavia and this little bird gave name to this band consisting to three quarters by musicians who have moved and established in new countries. Sarah-Jane and Juhani in Oslo and Bridget i Stockholm. Siskin also resembles the scandinavian word for sibling (syskon), a reminder of relationships and bonds between people and traditions.
