Ugarit is a historical ruined town in Syria, on the Mediterranean coast and is located near Latakia where Murhaf Fanous originates. The town bloomed more than 3000 years ago, and can be said to be the cradle of both music and literature. Archeologists have found the worlds oldest writnings with cuneiform alphabet. The same goes for notes which have been found in this region, which originates from 1400-1200 b.c.
Ugarit performs with traditional folk music och poetry set to tones from Syria, Palestine and Lebanon.
